Ordination of Papua New Guinean Brother

The 8th of March 2019 saw a significant event in the history of the Oceania Province with the ordination of Papua New Guinean Brother Peter Kal by the Archbishop of Madang, Most Rev. Stephen Reichert O.F.M. Cap.

A small representative group of family and friends of Brother Peter were in the congregation and were amongst the first to receive his blessing after the ceremony. (A much larger crowd attended Brother Peter’s first public celebration of Mass at Mt Hagen on Sunday 10 March.) The presence of a small number of Brother-priests in the Order is part of its history and tradition. The focus of such Brother-priests is the pastoral care and sacramental service of the Brothers themselves and those they are privileged to serve in their various needs.
